Traveling Man

While on my summer 2012 vacation to the great north, I had the good fortune to be an overnight house guest at the home of one of the most recognized hot rodders in recent history and that is Bob K of Antigo, WI. He and his cars have appeared in countless magazines and internet pages all over the world. We arrived at his home in the early evening hours and found his street torn up for construction but found a place to park near his wife Maggie's fast looking Camaro.

Bob met us out in the yard and helped us carry our bags and we entered thru his nice garage...

After showing us our rooms for the night he showed us around his nice home including this new office upstairs with a nice view...

Then we went downstairs and found Maggie K in the kitchen and it was good to see her...
And then we went out to his workshop area where his helper Bobby was doing some work on his 52 Chevy convertible...

There were some Corvettes, a street rod, the Camaro, and his daily driver Tahoe to look at  and all of them look fast or high performance...
and I began to look around at his collection of goodies which seemed endless...

One of his Vettes, but my favorite 62 was not there at the time...
a couple of more items from outside

And Bob turned on the neon for me which was way cool in the dark

and then we went out to supper at a small tavern where Lawrence and I posed for a photo and had a good meal of haddock and beer

After supper we back to the house and Bob showed us the guest bathroom we were to use...

And so after a good night's sleep we followed the great man himself to work the next morning to the large commercial insurance company that bears his name out on the sign and met some of his employees and took a tour of his office there where he still works part time...

Hard to tell in my photo but his office building was very long and his executive suite was in the very back so he had lots of room to display some of his collectibles from his travels...

And along about this time we hit the road and let Bob begin his day of work. I always tell him he is my idol because no one else I know enjoys the freedom of the open road as much as he does...the man is a true road warrior.
That wraps up this visit and stay tuned for more along the way.
