We continue our look at this epic display of every man's desire...fast cars and lots of them!
Early Land Speed Racing history was represented as shown here...
and turn of the century wooden board track racing displays were shown as well...
and speedsters that showcase the history of man's never ending attempt to go faster and faster...
and as you can see I liked this red Model T speedster so much I even posed by it myself....
racing history and signs...
and a period correct diorama display of a racing garage...
and the rarest of speed parts were to be seen....
and early engines of the era...
how about a very early Indy car driven by Louis Chevrolet himself?
and I liked this huge Packard engine...
and more engines that represent the epitome of technology pushed to it's limits...
and I took this photo of an Ardun hemi conversion on a Ford Flathead V8 to show my friend Jan-Olaf in Sweden who just loves this stuff...
and my favorite display of the day....this ford Model T truck with Frontenac overhead valve conversion with a beauty of an early racer on the back. This pair of vehicles have not been separated since 1936. That's right.............hauling the same load for 76 years now....perhaps a record?
I just loved the patina and history shown here....
Wow..what a great morning!
Then our large group of 175 people or so had lunch and then moved on to a private museum that did not allow photos and it was equally as impressive in it's own way.
Then a few of us die hards moved on to the small garage shop of Dan and Becky who had some cool cars and projects including this 50's Nash Metropolitan hot rod that will be Becky's new ride so she can relive her teen years once again when she and her sister first learned to drive in one of these little beauties.....
Here she is explaining to Cindy how things are going to look soon...
So there you have it....pretty girls, pretty cars, and a whirlwind day of friends and good conversation on a cold winter day. Can it get any better than this? Hardly.....thanks for coming along on my never ending journey to enjoy the simple pleasures in life.
You Kansas guys have all the fun! Thanks so much for the look at what you saw......I have to get there someday.....will you take me?
