A day of rest...

It has been a nice peaceful day here at the Flats so far on this November Sunday. Clear and cold with some north wind. We started the day by walking across the street to attend the 50th anniversary celebration of our friends Bob and Judy Lutz after their church service was over at 9:45 am where we had some coffee and doughnuts. Then I put some greenery with lights on my 28 Ford jalopy to make it look like Christmas around here. It will be our yard ornament till the first of the year. Then I got my Buick engine ready to ship first thing Monday morning where it will begin the long journey to Moscow, Russia. After that, my favorite brother in law Lawrence  called and asked me to take some photos of his 41 Chevy pickup truck he wants to sell. Then it was time to come inside and warm up to a bowl of homemade cheesy potato soup. Now, just resting and enjoying the afternoon......the simple life is the good life.

61 and holding........

They say you have to start somewhere, so I begin my new blog with a report from a birthday party we attended last night (Saturday) for my favorite brother in law Lawrence. He and I travel alot of miles together during the car show and swap meet season throughout the year and always have fun. So a group of 11 of us got together from our small town of 400 friendly folks and drove 20 miles west and south to Lindsborg, KS (the Swedish capitol of the Mid West). Our destination was the Ol Stuga  tavern where the atmosphere was festive and friendly. We found some table in the back and after ordering sandwiches (mine was german sausage with sauerkraut) and some pitchers of beer served in frosty mugs...it was time for shooting pool for the guys and playing Keno on the KS lottery tv screens for the gals. We must have stayed about 3 hours or so and it was just good clean, simple fun with family and friends. Happy 61st birthday Lawrence and let's do it again next year!
